Atti dell'Accademia Filarmonica di Verona (1543-1733)
The research project, born from the collaboration between the «E.F. Dall'Abaco» Conservatory, Fondazione Cariverona and Accademia Filarmonica di Verona, makes available to scholars the archive documents of the Accademia Filarmonica for the period between 1543 and 1733, a heritage of great historical and musicological value which for the first time allows us to fully and organically reconstruct the first period of the oldest of the still active musical academies. The Atti dell'Accademia Filarmonica, transcribed in a diplomatic edition accompanied by adequate critical and bibliographic apparatus, and by the indexes of names and places, are presented in chronological order and distributed in three volumes, each of which is introduced by a historical-musicological essay elaborated by each of the three curators. Inaugurates the series that of Prof. Marco Materassi, who examines the period in which the active musical militancy of the academicians was most alive, between the foundation of the association in 1543 and the acquisition in 1604 of the land on which the social headquarters was built. The essay that introduces the second volume is signed by Dott. Michele Magnabosco and explores the years in which the Academy, after the inauguration of its definitive headquarters in 1608, consolidated its role within the urban context, up to the great plague of 1630. In the third essay, Prof.ssa Laura Och finally reconstructs the vicissitudes of the association from the economic crisis following the «great contagion» up to the radical transformation that redesigned the profile of the Academy and which led it to build the Philharmonic Theater, inaugurated in 1732 with La fida ninfa of the academician Scipione Maffei set to music by Antonio Vivaldi.
